Chelsey is known for layering lush vocals and vulnerable lyrics over complex, textured synths. Her study of the cello and regular performance in an improvisational small orchestra profoundly shaped her musicality. Having sung in church all her life and watched her mother lead worship, Chelsey picked up the guitar in high school and later learned to lead as well. Now, in her self-produced work, she’s found her own voice blending alternative r&b and pop. She cites artists like Little Dragon, Frank Ocean, and Feist as influences. She collaborated with American electronic composer Metavari on See Again and electro-pop quartet Beat Connection on Think Feel (feat. Chelsey Scheffe), guest-appearing at Capitol Hill Block Party in Seattle and the Sasquatch Music Festival in central Washington. She applies her art direction and design expertise to her music, often collaborating with her twin sister, Chloe Scheffe.
